Go-commission
2016–2018
Benelux countries and Finland

With its Go-commission project, The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux aims to be an even stronger supporter of the creation of new works and the rise of creative arts in Finland and Central Europe. Built side by side with the rapid and flexible TelepART Mobility Support Platform, the Go-commission project focuses on international co-commissions.

In addition to supporting established works, the institute values the importance of furthering entirely new works and providing help for them to reach new audiences. More and more works regardless of their field of art get their start as a co-commission of several art organisations, which gives the works their base funding and also a decent amount of essential opportunities to showcase them right in the beginning.

The institute has an important role as a liaison between stakeholders in the field of culture in Finland and the Benelux countries. In the years 2016-2018 the institute acts as a co-commissioner with its international collaborative partners of new Finnish works in the fields of either music, performing arts or visual arts.

Eero Yli-Vakkuri’s three performances relating to his Trans-Horse project at Signal-festival in Brussels and Amsterdam Concertgebouw’s commission of Sebastian Fagerlund’s string quartet for the Kamus Quartet have been executed this autumn as part of the Go-commission project.

The Go-commission project was made possible by the Jenny and Antti Wihuri foundation.
