TelepART
Benelux countries and Finland

The TelepART Mobility Support Platform supports emerging and semi-established artists in showcasing their work internationally. At the core of this pilot project is a new style of rapid-access funding. This funding is designed to support travel costs for performances between Finland and the Benelux countries. The TelepART Mobility Support Platform is complemented by an international visiting arts professionals programme.

The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux promotes artistic collaboration between Finland and the Benelux countries. The aim is to encourage more visits by international productions to Finland and see the potential for the Benelux region to act as a springboard for Finland’s most exciting artists into the international scene. Due to Finland’s relatively remote geographic position, Finnish artists face greater challenges in gaining recognition for their work internationally, compared with their central European peers.

The aim of the new programme is to react rapidly and flexibly to emerging opportunities. In order for funding to be granted, both the organiser and the performer as well as their representatives must be committed to the production. Applicants must be able to demonstrate high artistic value, the production must be a collaboration between at least two countries, the performer(s) must receive a reasonable compensation for their work, and the applicant should be able to secure sufficient additional funding. The TelepART Mobility Support Platform is permanently open for applications. Decisions will be made by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux with guidance from a changing roster of performing arts professionals. Decisions will be made within two weeks of the application being received.

In addition to offering financial support for travel costs, the TelepART Mobility Support Platform also comprises an international visiting programme for arts professionals, coordinated by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux. It is envisaged that the targeted professional visits will allow arts sector decision-makers to enhance their professional expertise and afford them opportunities for networking. The TelepART Mobility Support Platform and visit programme are further complemented by communications support provided by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux secretariat and an integrated audit programme.

Under the TelepART Mobility Support Platform, we will publish a report investigating barriers to international performances between Finland and the Benelux countries.
